Alternative to ForeningLet

An alternative to ForeningLet, built around the board's work

Medlemsplatformen brings members, dues and activities together, and adds the board's work, minutes, annual wheel and accounting on top.

ForeningLet is a real choice, and it can still be right to look around

ForeningLet is a Danish system that combines a membership system, accounting, communication and booking in one product. So when we call ourselves an alternative, it is not to talk down a system that works. It is because associations differ, and what is right for one club need not be right for you.

A switch should be decided on an informed basis, not on promises that one provider can do everything. So this page is about what we do, and what any association should hold against its own needs.

Our real difference: the board gets a system too

Most systems are built for members, dues and sign-ups, and so are we. But a large part of running an association happens in the board, and that part is usually handled in loose documents, mail threads and shared folders nobody maintains.

With us the board's work sits in the platform itself: minutes with agenda, attendance and tasks with an owner, an annual wheel covering the general assembly and deadlines, and a fixed, confidential route for incidents and reports.

Everything ordinary is there as well

A board system is not worth much if you need another system for the rest. So we also cover what you expect: one member register with roles and self-service, automatic dues collection with online payment, activities and booking of times and rooms, plus news and a front page you build yourself from ready-made blocks.

The finances are real double-entry bookkeeping with VAT, bank reconciliation and export to the auditor, rather than a loose collection module. There is also ticket sales and a webshop in the same system as the members.

What a switch looks like

You do not have to wait for a season change. A switch is planned around the association's rhythm, and we help move members, activities and articles across as part of onboarding, so you do not start from a blank system.

We do not promise a button that pulls everything out of ForeningLet by itself, because a proper migration means looking at your actual data. But you are not alone in it.

What a switch costs in time, honestly

Switching systems typically takes a handful of evenings across a month, not a weekend and not six months. Most of that time does not go on moving data but on deciding things the old system had settled for you: what your membership types are actually called, which rates apply to whom, and who should be able to see what.

Moving members, activities and articles is something we help with as part of onboarding. We do not promise a one-click import, because a proper migration means looking at your actual data first, and because fixing errors afterwards takes longer than doing it right.

The best moment is between two seasons, after the last collection and before the next. The worst is in the middle of one.

When you should stay where you are

If the association's administration is essentially a member register and a dues collection, and it works, there is no argument for switching. A switch costs time however well it goes, and that time has to be earned back by something concrete.

What usually makes a switch worth considering is not dissatisfaction with what you have. It is that the association has taken on a job the system was not built for: board work that has grown large enough to need a place of its own, accounts an auditor will examine, a website you want to edit yourselves, or filings that have to be documented.

We write this because a page like this one is normally written to make you switch. A switch that solves nothing is expensive for you and a poor customer for us.

Frequently asked questions

Can we switch from ForeningLet mid-season?

Yes. Nothing technical ties you to a season change. We plan the transition around the association's rhythm, so members, dues and activities come across without a gap.

Can you move our data from ForeningLet?

We help move members and the association's data across as part of onboarding. We do not offer an automatic one-click import, because a proper migration means looking at your actual data.

What does Medlemsplatformen do differently?

Most clearly, the board gets a system too: minutes with follow-up, an annual wheel, incident reporting and real accounting, on top of the ordinary member register, dues and activities. And that modules switch on and off, so you do not pay for what you do not use.

Is ForeningLet a bad choice?

No. ForeningLet is used by many Danish associations, and for a good number of them it works well. We suggest holding both against your own needs, especially how much board work and finance weigh where you are.

How long does a switch actually take?

Typically a handful of evenings across a month. Most of that goes on deciding membership types, rates and access, not on moving data. The best moment is between two seasons, after the last collection and before the next.

When is switching not worth it?

When what you use covers what you do. If administration is essentially the member register and dues, and it works, a switch solves nothing and costs time. It is usually a new kind of job, not dissatisfaction, that makes one worth considering.
